What Is Mat Pilates?
Mat Pilates is a strengthening and lengthening form of exercise that focuses on your core (trunk) muscles while also training your arms and legs using a mat. Mat Pilates allows you to improve flexibility, coordination, posture balance and overall health.
Exercises in mat Pilates can also involve basic Pilates equipment such as a Pilates ring, resistance band, or weighted balls. Mat Pilates exercises are performed in a slow, controlled, precise manner and require an intense concentration.
Mat Pilates work is a great choice for everyone from beginners to advance, because the exercises not only can build in difficulty, but every exercise can be modified to decrease or increase the level of challenge. As you progress in your practice you will notice improvements in breathing, focus, stress management, and body awareness.
The exercises are relatively safe, low impact and appropriate for anyone from 10 to 100.
Clients attending mat classes will be carefully matched to their ability and have their progress constantly monitored.
