Tecar Therapy

The Heat That Regenerates

The heat generated by the movement of electric charges stimulates repairing processes and has an antalgic and anti-inflammatory effect.

What Is Tecar Therapy?

TECAR (acronym meaning Capacitive and Resistive Energy Transfer), is an innovative therapy that uses endogenous heat production to treat Musculoskeletal Traumas and Pathologies. Although the therapy based on heat has been known and used for a long time for the treatment of articular and muscular pain, only with the application of this technology, which generates heat inside tissues, have substantial steps been made in terms of results and effectiveness. Tecar therapy is spreading more and more in the medical and physiotherapeutic fields due to its extraordinary effectiveness.

WE ARE THE FIRST PHYSIOTHERAPY CLINIC IN DUBLIN TO INTRODUCE TECAR THERAPY TO IRELAND.

Tecar is rarely found in clinics here which makes us proud to be unique experts in using this progressive technology. The results from this treatment are fast and scientifically proven.

  • Production of endogenous heat deep inside tissues, too

  • Decrease in the viscosity of muscular and connective tissue

  • Increase in blood circulation

  • Stimulation of lymphatic drainage

  • Increase in metabolic activity

  • Increase in tissue oxygenation

  • Greater absorption of nutrients

  • Quick elimination of wastes and catabolits

  • Acceleration of regenerative processes

  • Release of endorphin and pain reduction

  • Will My Online Physiotherapist Tell Me If I Need To See A Face-to-Face Physio, Or A Doctor?
Absolutely. While there are many injuries that can be managed via online Physiotherapy consultation, some conditions do require 'hands on' assessment and treatment. We also work in private practice, and are skilled at detecting when an injury requires face to face investigation.
  • Is My Injury Suitable For Online Physiotherapy?
The majority of Musculoskeletal Injuries are suitable for online Physiotherapy consultation, but if we determine that your injury or situation is not at all suitable for an online consultation by a Physiotherapist, we will let you know, and refund the cost of the consultation. If you are unsure whether your injury is suitable for a consultation or not, send us an email, and we will let you know!
  • How Can A Physio Diagnose My Injury If They Haven’t Even Touched Me?
All Physiotherapy appointments start with a 'subjective assessment', in which the Physiotherapist will ask you a well-structured series of questions designed to discover what they need to know about your injury (without touching you). By the end of the subjective assessment, the Physiotherapist should already have a very clear idea of your probable diagnosis. The Physiotherapist may then perform some tests to conform this diagnosis.
  • Do I Need Any Specific Operating System Or Browser To Undertake My Online Consultation?
We use a very simple system and we tailor your consultation to the equipment and bandwidth that you have available. If there are any difficulties, we will work with you until they are resolved. If you can view this page, you can successfully carry out an online consultation. If you have any questions regarding this, contact us.
  • Can I Claim Money Back On Online Physiotherapy?
Insurance companies are starting to provide money back for online health consultations. We can provide a receipt for you to issue to your insurance company.
  • What is a Chartered Physiotherapist as opposed to a physical therapist or sports therapist?
A Chartered Physiotherapist has undergone a University degree programme with hospital-based training and has comprehensive knowledge of how the body works, along with specialist training in the diagnosis and treatment of muscle and joint pain. When you choose a physiotherapist who is a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP), you’ll enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that they are a part of Ireland’s only professional body within its field. So look for the letters MISCP to ensure your Physiotherapist is Chartered.
  • Do I Need to Bring Anything With Me For Face-to-Face?
Please make sure that you have relevant scan reports, medical reports, X-rays, test results, supports, braces and orthotics that you are currently using.
  • How Soon Can I See You?
Generally you can get you an appointment on the same day you contact us, or at least during the next business day after you contact us. Early treatment means a speedier recovery.
  • What Should I Wear?
Wear something which makes you feel comfortable. If possible, wear comfortable shirts and loose pants that allow you to move freely.
  • Do I need to see my GP first?
While it is common practice for GP’s to refer patients to Chartered Physiotherapists. You do not need to see your GP because your Chartered Physiotherapist will do a full assessment regardless of whether you have attended your GP or not. If you have been seen by your GP or had any x-rays or scans do bring them along with you. Also if you have undergone surgery please bring along any information you may have received
  • How Many Treatment Sessions Will I Need?
The number of treatments required depends on the severity of the condition. Most problems should show significant improvement within 2 to 3 sessions. More long-standing problems can take longer to resolve.
  • What Happens During a Visit?
During your first visit, expect questions regarding the symptoms that you are experiencing and the history of your complaint. Provided you are a safe candidate for treatment. A thorough assessment will be performed in order to come to an accurate diagnosis. Each stage of the assessment process will be explained to the patient and, once a diagnosis is made, a treatment plan will be formulated in collaboration with the patient. Patients will be educated about the cause of the complaint and a clear plan will be put in place to resolve the problem.
  • Can I Have A Home Visit?
Of course but the cost of a Home Visit will include travel time from the clinic so the cost of treatment may be higher. Please call us for more details.

What Are Tecar Application Methods?

What Are Tecar Application Methods?

Resistive Method

The Resistive Method is performed with non-insulated electrodes and is indicated for the treatment of highly resistant tissues: bones, cartilages, tendons, ligaments, fascias and fibrotic tissues. With this method it is possible to focus the therapeutic action on a given body part by placing the electrodes properly: the therapeutic action will develop along the current path between the electrodes.

INDICATIONS: DEEP AND LOCALIZED TREATMENTS FOR ARTICULATIONS, MUSCLES AND TENDONS.

Capacitive Method

The Capacitive Method uses a plate and an insulated electrode to treat tissues that have low resistance to current:  skin, connective tissue, circulatory system, lymphatic system. The insulated active electrode generates a charge movement, mainly in the underlying tissues, in which the therapeutic action is focused.

INDICATIONS: STARTING PHASE OF THE TREATMENT | SURFACE THERAPEUTIC ACTION | TREATMENT OF SOFT AND HYDRATED TISSUES

Geometries and Therapy

Unlike other methods whose effects are limited to the skin and the surface of the body, DIACARE devices have a very effective action, as they reach the area of treatment even in depth. This is due to the technology in use, the possibility of using two different work methods, but also the possibility of placing the electrodes according to the geometries that are most suited to producing an effective therapeutic action in a specific point and with all the necessary power.
